Del Norte Senior All-Stars’ Gutsy Regional Run Ends Against Powerhouse Opponents

CRESCENT CITY — The summer dream finally hit its ceiling, but not without a fight. The Del Norte Senior All-Star baseball squad saw its remarkable postseason journey conclude over the weekend, bowing out of the Northwest Regional tournament after facing a gauntlet of elite competition.

After steamrolling through district and state play with a blend of timely hitting and lockdown pitching, the local 13–16-year-olds arrived at the regional stage with swagger. Their opening contests proved they belonged, trading blows with some of the best senior-level teams the West Coast has to offer. Coaches noted the team’s chemistry was the driving force, with players sacrificing individual stats for the “Del Norte” name stitched across their chests.

However, the unforgiving double-elimination bracket eventually caught up with the North Coast representatives. Facing opponents with deeper rosters and more power at the plate, the All-Stars dropped back-to-back heartbreakers. In their final outing, a late-inning rally fell just short, stranding the tying run on base as the final out was recorded. The dugout emptied for handshakes, with tears mixing with pride.

“We didn’t come here to lose, but we leave knowing we left everything on that dirt,” said a team spokesperson. “These kids faced down regional titans and never flinched. That’s a win for our community.”

Despite the early exit, the run is a historic one for the local Little League program, marking the deepest regional penetration in years. The players will return home to a hero’s welcome, their bronze medals a testament to a summer of grit.
