Stolen Toyota Axio Found After Community Tips Off Local Police
A stolen Toyota Axio that vanished earlier this week has been safely recovered in Saint John Parish, thanks to a public appeal that spurred a quick response from residents and local law enforcement.
The silver sedan, registered to a prominent family in the Parish, was reported missing on Tuesday evening after it was taken from a private driveway near the town center. The initial investigation yielded few leads, prompting authorities to release a description of the vehicle and a plea for assistance through community notice boards and social media channels.
Within 48 hours of the appeal, a sharp-eyed resident spotted the car parked on a quiet side road in the northern part of the Parish. Acting on the tip, police officers from the Saint John Parish Station rushed to the location and confirmed the vehicle’s identity. The Axio was found undamaged, with its keys missing but the interior intact. Officers noted that the car appeared to have been abandoned shortly after the theft.
“We are grateful to the community for stepping up,” said Sergeant Maria Dolan, a local spokesperson. “This recovery shows that when residents and police work together, we can get results quickly. The vehicle will be returned to its owner once all forensic checks are completed.”
The owner, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed relief but declined to comment further while the matter remains under investigation. Authorities are now reviewing security footage from nearby homes and businesses in hopes of identifying the person or persons responsible for the theft.
