Soldiers Bring Smiles to Estonian Children’s Festival in Võru

VÕRU, ESTONIA — In a heartwarming display of international camaraderie, U.S. Army soldiers stationed in Estonia traded their combat gear for balloons and high-fives this weekend, joining local families at the annual Võru Children’s Festival. The special event, held under bright skies in the town’s main square, aimed to foster bonds between American troops and the Estonian community they are deployed to support.

The soldiers, assigned to the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, participated in a series of kid-friendly activities alongside Estonian Defence Forces personnel. From face painting booths to obstacle courses, the service members helped run games, handed out small prizes, and posed for countless photos with delighted children. “It’s incredible to see how a simple wave or a sticker can bridge cultures,” said Sergeant First Class Maria Torres, one of the volunteers. “These kids remind us why we’re here.”
